Jim Paddock makes the next stop with a whole lot of oranges at the Whitten Center in @placentiaca. Go Jim! 💪 Utilizing all that Navy Captain strength to load all those of oranges 🍊🍊! The Whitten Center is a human services center that provides free direct assistance to the community. They host a food distribution program twice a month. Some of their services include: - Document translation and assistance - Food Programs both emergency and supplemental assistance - Information and referrals to local agencies for programming such as: •counseling services •parenting classes •domestic violence intervention •emergency assistance for rent •utilities and clothing •family support - assisting families in crisis •youth tutoring programs •transitional housing Thanks again Jim for harvesting AND making the time to donate oranges to these wonderful places. #neocrotary #serviceaboveself

Thanks to the crew that picked oranges on Sunday, today we made our first stop at the Placentia Veteran's Village by @mercyhousing . Pictured are Jim and Stef along with Cynthia of the Veteran's Village. The village has 50 units and veterans are chosen with the criteria of honorable discharge and chronically homeless. They offer high quality VA on-site services and case management. On top of that there are community events, leisure skills programs, vocational support, socialization programs, gardening workshops and other activities. #neocrotary #serviceaboveself

Today we also harvested hundreds of pounds of oranges from our own member Jim's backyard. These oranges will be donated to food pantries in the area! Pictured are Gayle, Jim, Joe, Matt, and David! Thank you for all your hard work!

Join us for our first meeting of 2024! We will be introducing guest speaker and fellow Rotarian, Paula Chu Fox. Paula Chu Fox is a retired insurance/risk management CEO and a member of the Yorba Linda Sunrise Rotary Club. She and her husband Don run a food pantry in Yorba Linda for needy families, and actively support local and global philanthropic organizations and projects. In 2022, Paula was honored as one of the 125 Most Influential People in Orange County. This Tuesday, Paula will be sharing about the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) program which sponsors up to 200 students in our communities to attend an intensive online and in-person leadership training camp annually. The goal of RYLA is to help develop leadership skills, provide exposure to the work and services of Rotary in their community, ignite their passion to become future local and global leaders, and to live the motto of “service above self”. RYLA is also an opportunity for Rotarians and other adult volunteers to help mentor and guide our youths and make a positive impact on their lives. Additionally, as the incoming District’s Youth Services Chair for 2024-25, Paula is recruiting passionate and committed Rotarians to join her team next year and to bring your creative vision to help champion programs and services focused on our youths and young adults.
