Kameron Wong

Kam is pursuing her Master of Science in Biology at California State University of Long Beach, specializing in Molecular and Environmental Toxicology. She received her Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from the University of Delaware, then before moving to California in 2021, she had the privilege of working as a research assistant at the U.S Environmental Protection Agency in Duluth, MN. In addition to her graduate thesis research, Kam contributes to her field by teaching Introduction to Cellular and Molecular Biology and working as a laboratory assistant at an intergovernmental research institute in Costa Mesa. Through her multifaceted involvement in toxicology, Kam hopes to inspire young scientists while honing her knowledge at an agency that significantly impacts environmental management throughout Southern California.

Kam’s academic and professional journey has been fueled by an unwavering passion for bridging the gap between scientific research and public understanding. Her fulfillment lies in toxicological research, where she can investigate the consequences of exposure to environmental contaminants and apply her findings to the protection of both human and environmental health.

Delving into the realm of ecotoxicology has exposed Kam to the environmental injustices faced by socioeconomically disadvantaged communities. To her, this line of research plays a pivotal role in raising awareness about the increased risk of exposure to environmental pollutants faced by these communities and their surrounding ecosystems. By joining Rotary Club, Kam not only has the opportunity to support her community via acts of service but also to pioneer community events and projects that promote environmental awareness and spark scientific curiosity among individuals of all ages. She is a firm believer that knowledge is the most versatile and impactful tool one can possess, and she strives to equip her community with it.
